I am sure by now you have seen in either facebook or on other forums...there are Rumors of a new transport system coming to the world. Many are speculating a large gondola type skyway connecting Caribbean Beach, Hollywood Studios, Epcot & possibly Art of Animation. These are conjecture based on permits that have already been filed- but it looks like many are on to something. Not posting a link as I am unsure of doing so to other forums - but it is now everywhere (most discussions started gaining traction yesterday).
There have been several reports/rumors about a new transportation system to try to connect Epcot with HS through various resorts. I agree with you, Missy, that if there are this many rumors and for the fact that the permits have been issued, then I would have to conclude that it is true (to some part). Most of the articles and rumors have all come about in the past day or two.

I know a lot of people are talking about it. But not Disney, so... still a rumor. Besides Its gonna take a good 2 and a half to 3 years to complete it. Idk. I know I don't want to be stuck on that ride.

It would be nice when you think about it, but like you Dean, no way do I want to be stuck on it. We were stuck on the Monorail between the GF and MK due to someone being tackled by security running from the GF and trying to get on the monorail. The doors closed and the monorail moved forward to prevent anyone getting on.
It was not a nice experience, we sat there for a long time, my wife is claustrophobic and I hand my hands full keeping her calm.
When we finally stopped at the MK everyone in the compartment insisted my wife gets out first. LOL
We went back to the resort by boat (Poly) and didn't do the MK that night. So, no way would I want to be stuck on a gondola in mid air.

I still remember the original Skyway that was WDW over Fantasyland
I also remember the skyway over fantasyland....for those who don't it began (or ended) at the spot in Fantasyland where Rapunzel has her restrooms/tower
second star to the right and straight on till morning

I remember the Skyway too. I enjoyed it as much as the kids did.
WDW Sept 1995 Contemporary - WDW July 1997 Polynesian - WDW July 1998 Polynesian - WDW July 2000 Grand Floridian - WDW July 2003 Grand Floridian
Apparently, this is no longer a rumor as Disney filed permits on March 30th for "foundation and building infrastructure" that correspond with the previously mentioned route of a gondola ride between Epcot, HS, CBR, and AoA.
My DH isn't as into it as me, but he just got all excited and asked me if I knew about the gondola system Disney was pulling permits to build. I think he is getting the WDW bug!!

Gondola systems have been around for years and in areas just as bad as Orlando. Most of ski resorts (especially in The Alps) have some form of gondola system that hold up to blizzard conditions. Some of the ski resorts around Lake Tahoe have gondola systems.
