DW and I were there, I think February. We were there for lunch with a friend and her son. It wasn't very busy. Appetizers were ok. We had the Shiriki Noodle Salad and Falls family falafel. However, The Entrees.... Tastes like Chicken ..and Trader Sam's Head-On Shrimp(borderline spoiled) were awful. They both had a chili garlic sauce which was terrible and I belched it for the rest of the day. Service was not good either. I not only finished my wine but also the water and was still waiting. The only good part was being able to relax and drink a glass of wine (which was served in a cracked glass) NOT my day. So, I tipped low. Rumor has it, that they are changing the menu. When in a New Restaurant, DW and I try to pick things that are easy to make. I didn't think they could screw-up Chicken or Shrimp, but they did. It was obvious to me that the cook did not taste the food. Atmosphere is good. Just not the typical Disney Quality IMO. Oh buy the reisling by the glass its 10$ they want 45$ for bottle. You can't get more than 4 glasses in a bottle. Some genius thought that one up on the menu.
Sorry to hear about your experience, Dean. Neda and I have been curious about the place since they opened but we have noticed (like you mentioned) that reviews hit and miss but more miss than hit. I hope they redo things and learn to make it better.

There are many better restaurants in MK (all of them). We typically avoid Mk restaurants for dinner. It's just way too easy to hop on the monorail to Grand Floridian Cafe for steak and lobster.
That is what I am hearing as well! I wanted to try this in July but still can't pull the trigger. I almost wish they had a lounge area incorporated where you could grab some bites and a drink (too early for pushing more of the drinks in Magic Kingdom?) like the Nomad Lounge near Tiffin's. That could give a sample if you will of the service food etc.
I just went there last Friday with Missy's husband while she, Their DD grandsons were watching grandsons get made up at the Pirate Leagues. There is no bar so it felt wasteful using a table to order a glass of wine and an appetizer....they must have told us 4 times we had to have an appetizer in order to enjoy a drink. The Food was ok.....nothing to be overly excited about.....I would give it an "eh" experience and cross it off my list unless they make some changes.

Last week, it was announced that Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen went through another major menu adjustment. The restaurant originally opened in December 2015 and had its first menu modification in July 2016 and its second modification in December 2016.
For those that have been here before, I am curious if you would or would not go back after reading the new / modified menu.

I think the theme was a nice choice for a new restaurant.

I am honestly not sure if I would.....there are many other places to try plus favorites that are spectacular....but I will look at the menu on the sign next time I am over and let you know...

I am curious if anyone has had the courage to try the new menu, after reading the above experience I'm not sure to spend the money unless I have a free meal plan.
I just viewed the gallery of pictures for the Skipper Canteen and they look great. Hope the food comes exactly like the picture for the guests. I am leaning towards giving it a try my next trip (which is still only a wish). May just walk up and ask if any tables are available, this has worked for us several times at the Liberty Tree Tavern. Of course it was earlier than busy hours, but it does work at times.
