Since we almost always go in the summer (married to a teacher) when I carry the bag I always make sure there are 3-4 frozen bottles of water. It might make it a bit heavier, but the cooling effect of those frozen bottles on my back is a lifesaver!!!!!

I think I am like you. I don't carry a day bag. My want my hands free to carry a beverage (perferably alcoholic) and to hold my wife's hand.

I usually have a belly pouch with Grumpy on the front, inside are a poncho, suntan lotion, lip balm, reading glasses, band aides and a list of what our fast passes are for the day. No cell phone and only occasionally a camera.
