It has been repeat in the last couple of weeks that there will be some big changes coming to Epcot between now and the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World. To start, it was rumored that Disney budgeted $1 billion for changes to Epcot for the 50th Anniversary celebration.
1. A new attraction coming to the U.K. Pavilion. It might be either based on the Loch Ness Monster or related to Mary Poppins ---
"A very preliminary rumor has surfaced about an attraction being added to the United Kingdom Pavilion at Epcot. A definitive theme has not been established, but one possibility is an attraction based around the Loch Ness monster. Another possibility is an attraction based on the upcoming Mary Poppins movie.
The timeline would be several years away."
2. Update and refurbishment of Mission: SPACE ---
"Mission: SPACE is rumored to receive updates. Details are minimal at this time, but are expected to take place in 2018.
A refurbishment is scheduled for June and July 2017, and it's possible updates could be included as part of that refurbishment."
3. Changes to the Land Pavilion including replacing Circle of Life ---
"Long term changes are expected to come to The Land Pavilion. Expected changes include changes to Living with the Land and a replacement for Circle of Life."
4. A Ratatouille ride being added to the Paris Pavilion ---
"Disney Studios Paris has a trackless/LPS (Location Position System) attraction featuring Ratatouille. The lead Imagineer on that attraction is long time Imagineer, Tom Fitzgerald who is the current lead Imagineer of Epcot.
There are strong rumors that a version of this attraction will find it's way to the France Pavilion in Epcot before Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary in 2021. Reportedly the attraction has already been approved, which would make the D23 Expo in July a logical time to officially announce it.
The speculation is that the ride would be placed on the Morroco side of the France Pavilion and may not require the removal of Impressions de France."
5. New countries coming to Epcot. Looks like Brazil and Spain but possibly also Puerto Rico ---
"While nothing seems imminent, there have been several indications that a Brazil, Spain or Puerto Rico Pavilion is or was being considered for Epcot's World Showcase.
In 2011, the Folha newspaper in Brazil reported that Disney has been in discussions with the Brazilian government about sponsoring a Brazil pavilion in World Showcase. Around the same time, other indications have come in the form of Vinylmation where a set of 12 Vinylmation was released where each figure featured a flag from one of the 11 countries currently in World Showcase, the 12th figure featured the Brazil flag.
In May of 2014 a piece of concept art for the Brazil pavilion was posted online in a WDWMagic discussion of the Ratatouille attraction from Disney Studios Paris being placed in the France Pavilion in Epcot.
In September of 2014, Metro.pr (a Puerto Rican newspaper) reported that Puerto Rico could begin construction on a new pavilion in 2017.
In March of 2017, The Unofficial Guide's Disney Dish Podcast with Jim Hill and Len Testa discussed the possibility of a Spain Pavilion featuring an attraction based on the upcoming animated movie, Gigantic."
