It was announced in 2015 that Disney Quest would be closing to make room for NBA Experience. As of today, Disney Quest is still open and can still be enjoyed by all.
Has anyone been to Disney Quest and what are your thoughts about having it close?
Prior: Offsite most every other years from 1972 - 2000
Most recent: Offsite 2001 & 2003 / ASM 2006 / Offsite 2009 / Poly 2011 / POR 2013 / CR 2014 / GF 2015 / DS Hotel 2017 / BC 2017 / POR 2018
When my wife and I stayed at the CR in 2014 and got a Magic Your Way Vacation Package, 2 free admissions to Disney Quest were included. It was part of the vacation package for many years but this was the first time we decided to use the coupons. Our entry ticket includes all the game except for 1 or 2 "cyber" games. We love playing Skee-ball and racing against each other so we placed those games. We greatly enjoyed CyberSpace Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for Buccaneer Gold. There wasn't a lot of people there so we got to do Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for Buccaneer Gold several times and learned how to improve our score each time. The food at Disney Quest counted on the Dining Plan as QS but we didn't eat there. It was a rainy day in general which is why we picked to play indoors at Disney Quest. We stayed there playing games and laughing like we were little kids again until it was time for our dining reservations at Raglan Roads.
We decided it is not something to do on every trip WDW but for us, it was a fun way to make use of a very wet rainy day (plus it was included with our package).

Except for the fact that you live local and can come and go as you please.....what do/did you do when it rained??? Disney Quest is a nice option for the kids when it does nothing but rain all day (versus the standard hour shower Florida gets).

Back when we didn't live local and it rained we would go to the kids one in the resort for activities.....and most resorts would show a movie in the food court area one end for kids/families.....Disney really went out of their way to provide some fun.....plus MY kids would suggest wearing swim suits and still go to the parks!

We went last year to Disney Quest, and my family really liked it. Like Doc, we had it as an "add-on" to our Disney trip for our gamers in the group. New games along with the classics can be found in the multi-level building. The gamers in the family said that everything is grouped in a certain way, older games on top level and newer ones working your way down. I have no clue considering Astroids and Centipede is as technical as I get! There was a pretty cool Pirates ship that you "climb aboard" as a group and shoot at different ships and pirates. We also did a Virtual river rapid ride that made me glad I didn't eat first. Everyone under 30, in our group had fun playing the old games and racing cars and motorcycles. My husband and I fondly remembered our Atari system!

It was announced today that Disney Quest will close permanently on July 3rd as the West Side of Disney Springs goes through some changes and Disney Quest becomes The NBA Experience.

We thought about adding it to our "to do" this past April because it was closing, but after listening to a Disney blogger in front of us ask about all the closed areas and games, we decided that it really wasn't worth the regular price admission.

I would agree. They started closing part of the attraction all ready so that when it does officially close, there will be less things inside and quicker to move to remodeling it.

Something else that is ending before my next visit! Had the opportunity to go, but there were too many other experiences to be had, so we nixed it. Not really my cup of tea, but I think it could be a fun way to spend a rainy day. Not overly upset about the closing.
