Has anyone been frustrated with the resort pools not being heated enough?
Usually this becomes a problem for me in October with a few times in April.
The Polynesian always had heated pools in the high 80's during our past vacations.
Then we started to stay at the Beach Club, water was in the 70's which is not enjoyable, I did it just to swim which we love to do.
I would complain to the front desk and the answer was usually the heat is broke or our guest usually come from the north at this time of year and have no problem. So I would tell them I'm from the north and I have a problem.
One morning I could smell the heat trying to work around the pool area. Either they turned it off or it broke because the water never became warmer.
I'm curious if others have this problem or not.

I'm not sure they use chlorine anymore I think they use a different chemical, check to be sure dngnb8. I said October, after posting I realized it was November. This past December I went swimming once with my daughter on a very warm day. Actually it was the day we met Cathie. We look forward to swimming when on vacation and having a pool in the 70's may be nice in August it is not nice when the temps are in the 70's or 80's.

Some pools are using a salt system and getting away from chlorine. I'm not sure if this is something they do at Disney, yet. But it's supposed to be better.

Storm-along Bay at Yacht and Beach Club and Art of Animation use a salt-water filtration system which is lower level but still has chlorine. Salt(NaCl) is Sodium Chloride. However, according to Disney all the other resort pools use Bromine. Still call the resort, It's no secret.

I think the pools vary in temp or they regulate it differently by season. I remember once we stayed at Old Key West , it was VERY cold (It was during Christmas) and we swam in the main pool at OKW and it was very warm. I remember going underwater and when I came out my hair would freeze.

There are a lot of alternatives out there like Baquacil or Bromine or Ozonator (which use ultraviolet lights) to name a few. You can also get in-line salt pump chlorinator. We looked into switching our pool to this but is was expensive to install one at the time.

Good to know all these amazing options.....I have a friend up north who rarely swims in a public pool due to allergy to chlorine.....I'm going to tell her to pack her suit next time just in case and ask at the resort they decide to stay at.....thx!
second star to the right and straight on till morning
We looked into bromide, but it was an ionized chlorine molecule and I still reacted to it. I gave up years ago. I am sure there are suitable replacements, but theyre costly and public entities stick with the economical chlorine.
Instead, I bought my retirement home in Pagosa Springs Colorado. Natural hot springs are highly therapeutic.
