We went a few years back and would do it again if we have the chance to.
Pros: Got to see all the kids (and families) dressed up. We don't have kids but my wife loves Halloween to see them all dressed. Even the adults get to Trick-or-Treat through out the park and cast members even encourage it ---- 13 Trick-or-Treat stations. You can enter the park at 4:30 p.m. even though the party doesn't start until 7:00 p.m. The Halloween-themed parade and firework show. One of only two times that you get to see ALL seven dwarfs together. Less crowds --- some people will that it is still crowded but when you think of the numbers, the park is only about half full. It only appears very crowded because all the people are grouped together to do the special meet-and-greets or see the special shows throughout the park. The MK holds 55,000 people and they only sell 25,000 tickets to MNSSHP. Most people leave after the second parade so there are still plenty to do afterwards and with less crowds. Unique "Magic Shot" related to Halloween. Special Halloween-themed snacks.
Cons: It costs extra to do. So, you have to compare the value you get out of going to the cost of the tickets which is between $72 - $88 per adult. For a large family, that could get very expensive. Only available on selects nights. Some nights do sell out
Prior: Offsite most every other years from 1972 - 2000
Most recent: Offsite 2001 & 2003 / ASM 2006 / Offsite 2009 / Poly 2011 / POR 2013 / CR 2014 / GF 2015 / DS Hotel 2017 / BC 2017 / POR 2018
We've done it twice. Once just DW and I and trying to get all the character pictures. The Second time with grandkids, trully a memorable experience for them. It will happen more often.

Hi! I have family going to WDW in October, and they will go to MNSSHP.
Even though it was my advice to buy do this party, I have never been to one myself. How do you guys think it's the best way to do the party? what's not to miss? They will do MK the day before as a regular park day, so it's not that important to hit attractions that day, so it's just shows, fireworks and fun stuff to do what they'll be looking for!

We think this is a must do or at least once. The people with party tickets can starting getting into the park at 4:00 p.m. When we have gone to the parties, we don't try to do a park in the morning. Just not worth it. We try to get to the parties around 5:00 p.m..
Once in the park for the party, you have a couple of options....1) go and start riding some rides before the party starts; 2) wait in line for Jack Skellington; or 3) wait in line for the 7 Dwarfs. This is only one of two times that all the 7 Dwarfs are together at one time for photos. The line for Jack Skellington typically starts forming about 4:30 and sometimes he will start seeing guests around 5:00 p.m.. The line for the 7 Dwarfs typically starts forming about 5:00 and they start seeing guests around 6:30 p.m.. We aren't into pictures but we did see all the shows / parades and recommend them.....typically the second parade is less crowded than the first.
When I was doing my research on the Halloween and Christmas party, I read multiple reviews but here is the website that I think gives the ideas and reviews about the parties...
