I really enjoy reading into some of the restaurant reviews , it always amazes me how some people can love and hate the same restaurant. The experience for one person could be 100% different for another family on a different day and both can be accurate.
So who do you believe?
I actually had the opportunity about 3 years ago to write some WDW and DLR restaurant reviews for a guide (a friend worked on the guide) and I can tell you that my experiences would sometime contradict others and I feel that I did my best to represent the experience , but others had such valid points I always second guessed myself. I don't do it any more because my work schedule has been crazy, but I enjoyed it.
The 2 big conflicts that I had were as follows :
Tony's Town Square - I went once, had an awful, simply terrible meal and vowed to never go there again. Then in 2015 we went on Christmas eve ( no other reservations were available) and we had a wonderful meal and excellent service , plus we had a great seat near the window. We went back last August and had a very good meal, and such excellent service that I sent a letter to Guest relations about our Waiter/CM .
Most reviews I read are bad. But right now, I would give it a good rating.
50's Prime Time Cafe - The first visit I had a very good meal and the server was hilarious. So we loved it. We went 2 years later and the meal was poor and the CM was so not into it that we may have been at a local diner. We recently went back for another visit, and the food was blah and the CM was not really playing the part so it was a bad experience, but in the booth next to us, the CM was amazing. If I was in that booth, I would have rated it much higher.
I give more credit to the places that people like to visit each trip. What are your staples?
When we visit- ( which is usually for 7-10 days) My ADRs start with the staples.
Ours are : - Cape May Cafe
- Ohana's
- Le Cellier
(Spoodles used to be on this list but they lost their ranking with the name changes)
Others we take turns going to like Whispering Canyon, Trails End, Cali Grill or 1900 Park fare , and then we either try new things or go back to others to try again.
I just give more credit to the experienced folks , because they wouldn't waste their time if the place had doubts.
Thoughts?
