It is another trail or trek like the Discovery Island Trail or Maharajah Jungle Trek. It is a walking trail that allow you to see animal in as natural of an environment at Disney can create. This trail features gorillas, wild African birds and (I believe) hippos. It is a nice casual walk and if you go early, the animals are still active. You can also view some of the gorilla and hippo areas from the Kilimanjaro Safaris.
LOL.....Natural environment created by Disney....LOL I guess that is like saying Disney created WDW so that some of us people can watch other people in their natural environment (People Watching)

What is the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail and have any of you all walked it before? I might have to add it to our next visit.
DW and I walk this trail every time we're in Animal Kingdom Park. Many Times we just grab a wine and stroll thru the trails looking at the different animals.

Have had some great sightings of the gorillas on this trail! Some people rush through and miss so much. Best to take a casual stroll and enjoy what comes!
We walked that trail only once, tell me, has anyone experienced what we referred to as the monkey's bathroom. There is a bridge crossing a canyon, close to the end of the trail. We couldn't wait to get across this bridge only to find out that is also the only way out.

What??? I am sure but either I am confused or you lost me somewhere

Well maybe I'm thinking of another trail? There is a bridge to walk across and you end up looking out over the savanna which when you are on the safari ride you can see the observation area. From there you have to turn around and walk across the bridge again.

Hate to lose you in deep dark Africa LOL
No...You have the correct trail as this is the only trail the crosses the savanna. This trail is located between the Safaris entrance and Wildlife Express Train entrance. The bridge at the entrance to the trail is the same as the bridge to exit the trail. I don't remember any bridge that you had to double-back on.

Next time I'm down there I will make sure I check it out, but as you say, the bridge at the entrance is the same as the bridge at the exit, means to me that you are double-backing. It is just the fact my bridge is closure to the savanna viewing area. Wow.............just came to me, maybe we were in the twilight zone, too many tower of terror drops. LOL
