lets talk about various kids programs at the different resorts from what you personally have experienced....be sure to include kids ages as that will be most helpful

I am looking into the Children's Programs at the resorts. There are 4 programs: This is the info I found on the walt.disney.world.go.com site. There are 4 "ports of call" (Resort marinas). Pirate crews need to be between the ages of 4-12years old and must be potty trained. Pirate stories and legends, pirate treasure and snacks are provided. The adventures are from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. (weather permitting).
Disney's Pirate Adventure: takes sail from Crossing Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon, this pirate cruise treats kids to a reading of "The Legend of Gasparilla"—a real Florida pirate. Departs from the Marina at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
Islands of the Caribbean Pirate Cruise: Buccaneers sail the Ports of the Caribbean waters, as they hear the story of Old Port Royale and its pirate-laden past. Departs from Barefoot Bay Bike Works at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort.
Albatross Treasure Cruise: ]Kids hear "The Legend of the Albatross" and search for pirate booty across Crescent Lake and Epcot park’s World Showcase Lagoon. Departs from Bayside Marina at Disney's Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort.
Bayou Pirate Adventure: Sailing down the Sassagoula River, young scallywags listen to the legends surrounding Captain Jean Lafitte—one of the most infamous pirates ever to haunt the waters of New Orleans. Departs from the Riverside Levee Marina at Disney's Port Orleans Resort – Riverside.
After April, I hope to have grandkids tested and approved experience on one of these fun high seas adventures!

Question: Do you turn the kids over to this or is an adult required for accompanyment? I would give my kids a break to do these with grandkids. But My kids, like me, could never trust a stranger (even Disney Cast) to do this with.
From what I understand, it is a "kid only" adventure. This would make sense because children must be potty trained and no pull-ups. As a former Preschool Director, I would think security measures and background checks would be in place. (I will check into their policies). My daughter is "iffy" about it, but I haven't found any bad comments on the excursions. There are also child activity centers located in some resorts. The cost for the excursions are $37.00 per child and the prices for child activity centers vary on when you need a babysitting service.
Maybe The 10 year old will do it. But We normally would NEVER let them go alone. Been thru too much. We don't even like what the public school system puts out anymore. Its geared for the masses. Not the soon to be leaders. Its why we don't hesitate to take the grandkids out of school for Disney. They are A honor roll and band and sports. We don't like to be bored.
Ok here's what I know....I wonder too if parents can accompany...but when I talked to one cast member about it she "thought" parents can be on board but sit at a section in the back watching....so visual confirmation is possible...I want to do this Sept 2018 when both grandkids will be back together so counting on a full report from Missy

I also, have an email into My Disney Experience for confirmation on this AND training of Child Program castmembers.
