Club 33 coming to WDW!!!
For those of you that might not know, Club 33 is a private club currently located in 3 Disney Parks - the New Orleans Square section of Disneyland, on Center Street of World Bazaar of Tokyo Disneyland, and on Mickey Avenue of Shanghai Disneyland. Walt Disney wanted it to be a private where he could entertain Disneyland's corporate sponsors and other industry VIPs. The first one in Disneyland opened June 15, 1967. The name "Club 33" comes from two stories ---- first is the address of the club (33 Royal Street in New Orleans Square at Disneyland) and the second is to represent the 33 original corporate sponsors at Disneyland in 1966-1967.
Club 33 is a membership only club. Currently, the waiting list to join this club is roughly 15 years. For an individual to join, it will cost you $50,000 to join plus annual dues of $15,000. As DLR, you get valet parking, can enter the park without purchasing a ticket, invited to special parties, and able to dine in the exclusive restaurant in the club.
On April 13, 2017, Walt Disney World announced that they would be opening a Club 33 in each of the four WDW parks and that they would open in Fall 2017. Rumors are now flying around about where the club will be located in each park.
The current rumor for Hollywood Studios is what used to be the Catwalk Bar located above the then Soundstage Restaurant. Both closed late-1990's. The reason this site makes sense is because it would share the kitchen with Brown Derby and for the fact that the staircase and elevator in the Brown Derby has been recently walled off with some form of construction going on.
