We have stayed at the All Star Resorts and the Caribbean Beach Resort. We will probably go back on an all family trip in a few years. What is another Resort that you recommend for a family of 8 that includes small children...we will probably need to break up into groups if something can't accommodate all of us.

Can't pick just one. Start with All Star Resorts and Caribbean Beach Resort and then try another one. Neda and I kinda have a goal of trying ALL the resorts at least once. So far, we have done...

Missybee, we always stayed at Dixie Landings, they accommodated 5, the value only slept 4 and we couldn't always afford the delux which we would have picked the Polynesian during those times. 8 guests is a big issue which is why I saw the DVC answer to your question. If this was me, I would do 2 rooms at a moderate resort like Port Orleans French Quarters or Riverside. Take the boat to Disney Springs on an off day and relax. Hope you get an answer that can save you some money.

I surprise my wife with a long weekend trip to WDW a few years back and I picked Port Orleans Riverside for that specific reason of taking the boat to Disney Springs.
I sooooo laugh and love it when you use the name Dixie Landings. I wonder how many people remember when there was Disney's Dixie Landings Resort and Disney's Port Orleans before they merge into one resort in 2001 ... where Dixie Landings became Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans became Port Orleans French Quarter.

I actually remember day dreaming and wishing we could afford to go to Disney and looking at Dixie Landings.

An option you can try either cash or DVC rental on points are the Treehouse Villas in Saratoga Springs and run around $750-800 per night or a 2 bedroom villa for about $645 per night. They sleep 9 and 8 respectively and have the full kitchen and plenty of room. I mentioned those as they can be done cash but the cost to rent DVC is cheaper (but not that much - around- 2-300 for a 6 night stay).
If you rent there are some significant deals to be had by looking - for example a 2 bedroom standard view at animal Kingdom (sleeps 9) can be had for about $1000 less renting DVC as opposed to cash. I hear good thing's about David's rentals and you can check occupancy and cost estimates for DVC there to get an idea as well as the Disney site directly.
