New theater coming to the Magic Kingdom

There is a major update on this attraction.

It was rumored yesterday on WDWMagic that this future attraction had been CANCELLED by Disney but upon further research on multiple other Disney websites, no further reports could be found.

Well, that was yesterday and today is today. Today I found a similar report on Blog Mickey. At first they quoted WDWMagic, but went into little more detail.  I still can't find any further information except from these two websites in which one quotes the other.  That being said; here is a copy of the article:


"Sources have separately indicated that the Main Street USA Theater project at Magic Kingdom has indeed been cancelled.

Unfortunately, not much information beyond that is available. It wasn’t clear why the project was cut, but Disney is expected to make an announcement regarding the change in plans.  The theater was originally announced by Bob Chapek at the 2017 D23 Expo as a part of the Parks and Resorts panel. It was described as being inspired by Kansas City’s Willis Wood Theater and would have hosted Broadway-style shows.

The theater would have been located to the East of Main Street USA and is included in an overarching, “Magic Kingdom East” permitting package. The permit package contained the Tron coaster footprint as well. This cancellation has no impact on the Tron project, and it’s expected to move forward.

As soon as more information is available and/or this "rumor" can be verified by Disney and multiple other sites, I will post that as well.
