The above picture is the "Blue Sky" concept art Disney released at D23 Expo 2017. It shows how Future World of Epcot MIGHT look after all the major renovations are done.
In the artwork, Spaceship Earth is unchanged, but the post-ride exhibit behind it has been downsized, and both Innoventions buildings have been removed entirely. Majority of the concrete found throughout Future World has been replaced with lots of green space reminiscent of the old “Project Gemini” concept. Furthermore, the Fountain of Nations has been removed and replaced by elaborate new fountains in World Showcase lagoon.
In this Epcot concept art, the attraction buildings in Future World East (Universe of Energy, Wonders of Life, Mission: SPACE, Test Track) look much as they do today, but on the West side a new hedge maze-like structure and additional water features appear outside of The Land. At the same time, there appears to be no addition of the "Space Restaurant" or the expansion to Universe of Energy that was mentioned during D23 Expo 2017.
That being said, remember that concept art may not accurately reflect the final product.
What are your thoughts on how Epcot "might" look in the future?
Personally, I like it. I saw another picture or drawing of Future World and it had pretty much the same changes as shown in this picture but it also showed a possible "Rainforest" roller coaster outside of The Land and Hedge Maze between The Land and Imagination.
I like the idea of how Future World might look as things have changed. The Future World from 1982 fits with the way the world has become.........a lot of concrete and open spaces with little trees. If this picture holds true, then it would also match with the concept of the way the world might change in the future with more trees, more electric vehicles and more protecting the environment.
So again....I like it!!!!

I agree, at first it is hard to imagine breaking away from the original concept, but that never kept up with the changes in the world and it was supposed to stay ahead of the future which is really impossible when you study it.
As always, I hope it makes future world nicer to visit.

Rich, I can only hope the world changes to your view, I just don't think it will which is unfortunate. Big business (car manufacturers, Oil) run everything to increase their money, I'm getting off the subject.

Thank you for liking my view but maybe you haven't seen the global news. Germany plans to have no gas vehicles (expect the ones already made) on the roads by 2030....so much for oil running the world. I agree car manufacturers run a lot of things but some of that is because we don't great inter and intra-city transportation because the auto makers are afraid to give up control. In Europe, they have great inter- and intra-city transportation with trains, subways and vehicle tax in cities to limit vehicles in the city and force people to use more public transportation. I agree that I don't see that happening here.

Cathie, those were the good old days, my wife and I always loved Pollyanna. To go back to my unfortunate unhappiness with big business, They are actually changing energy with different methods it's just not as fast as I'd like since it started back in the early 70's.

This is part of what Future World is all about! What are the conflicts, problems and issues in the world today and what are some of the imaginative solutions that the creative minds behind the Mouse can, well.....imagine. Travel, People Movers, Rides....small ways to quickly move from one place to another that have possibilities of changing the world......

I completely agree. Walt Disney’s original concept for EPCOT went well beyond an amusement park. He wanted to redesign the way people lived, worked and commuted. unfortunately, after Walt Disney died so did his dream of EPCOT. EPCOT became a park instead of a community that shared the vision for a better tomorrow. I still believe that is what Future World should be....a vision for a better tomorrow!!!
