Another thread under this topic discussed adding “kiddie” experiences to a more “adult” theme park. I love the EPCOT experience. Walking around and exploring each area. I have noticed that it seems that WDW believes to hold a child’s attention, there has to be ride or kiddie something....I totally disagree.
We do the passports with our Grands and take time to have them really talk to the people at each site. Yes, some are more engaging than others. But, if you use some Disney imagination, you can make it fun without the MK trappings.
So, what are your thoughts on going to EPCOT with children and making it fun for them?
My son and I have for the past two trips - snacked around the world. What started as a "Boys time" when my Wife was sick has become his favorite reason to go to Worldshowcase/Epcot.
Instead of getting breakfast or lunch, we each get to pick a snack for eachother at a few different countries. While in there we explore the pavillions and "scout" what to do/get next trip. He has gotten so into this that I "caught" him watching Disney Food Blog videos on youtube the other day preparing for this summer.
Round it out with a few rides and our matching shirts (every trip - the same shirt family!!!!)
Our children never had a problem with EPCOT when it was new. Yes it had little for children to do or see like the MK, but they had a great time regardless. Each night we ate dinner there, usually at pasta pizza restaurant which was near Starbucks. Then they moved this food to the "Land" and wasn't the same. The park is changing slowly and more kid friendly which is nice for the new youngsters.

Do you remember the name of the restaurant? The reason I am asking is because there is no pasta pizza restaurant in The Land and the only pasta pizza restaurant in Epcot is Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria, which opened August 5, 2010 and is operated by Nick Valenti, Restaurateur and CEO, Patina Restaurant Group and was the FIRST authentic Italian pizzeria to ever open in the park.
Prior: Offsite most every other years from 1972 - 2000
Most recent: Offsite 2001 & 2003 / ASM 2006 / Offsite 2009 / Poly 2011 / POR 2013 / CR 2014 / GF 2015 / DS Hotel 2017 / BC 2017 / POR 2018

I'm talking over 20 years ago, in fact I just came across it while going through old memorabilia. It was called Pasta Piazza Ristorante and was located in Innoventions, opposite the Electric Umbrella. When it went to the Sunshine Seasons only the food went not the restaurant. By no means was it authentic Italian pizza, it was fast food, the pizza was shaped like Mickey in Styrofoam containers shaped like Mickey, I just threw out containers we saved from back then, we saved everything. Of course we washed them prior.
Talking about authentic Italian Pizza, what's authentic to some isn't to others, Via Napoli just isn't even comparable to what we have in the NY/NJ area. I've heard from Florida residents that the water has a lot to do with it which affects bagels also, which can't compare to the NY area. True or not there is a big difference.

Ok...I found something on it....
"Pasta Piazza Ristorante Restaurant in Communicore West at Epcot, from May 1994. It was formerly called Sunrise Terrace Restaurant." I also found that it closed June 30, 2001.

I had no idea it lasted that long, maybe they stopped selling the pasta and pizza at that location in the 90's, which was why we had to try the land. You bring back memories of the correct names which is great for me to jog my memory. I'm sure we ate at Sunrise Terrace Restaurant also and it probably had the same food before the name change.
Communicore West, wow I totally forgot that name. Thanks Rich you sure come up with the answers.
Sorry members, I thought I would have had further talk about authentic Italian Pizza. When you grow up with a certain type, it is the best to that area. I have been told about the water and that some places actually import water, I have no idea if this is true. My son was thinking of a pizza place in Disney, importing not only water but the dough from our local bakery because we purchase the dough for our homemade pizza's, the house smells like a pizzeria and is great. Much better than Via Napoli, Sorry again.
The Thread is helping Children Navigate EPCOT and like usual I get off the subject. This has to do with Children and Adults I'm told who need quiet time. Has anyone seen Christopher Robins Room in the United Kingdom? It is a special room for children to relax in. We saw it for the first time and it is very nice and relaxing, since it wasn't being used they allowed us to see the room and even take pictures.

We recently met the lady who brought us into Christopher Robin's room, she was working in the tea caddy. We introduced ourselves and explained that she showed us the room. She said that it is no longer allowed to show guests in, it is only for children that need it. We totally understood and were grateful to have seen it.
