It was announced that starting today, DME will start picking up guests from their resorts 4 hours prior to their flight departure. It used to be the DME would pick up guests 3 hours for domestic and 4 hours for international but due to the increase in TSA screening times at MCO (Orlando International Airport), this new policy is effective immediately.
The article reports that Disney will review the policy sometime around the beginning of 2018.

sounds early but the last couple of times we took an earlier DME just to get to the airport. We were sitting in the Yacht Club lobby and the Admiral (greeter) came over and started a conversation with us. He was from a town about 1/2 hour from us. He told us it was better to get an earlier bus to the airport than to sit there so we did it and he was right. Once the vacation is over, it is time to get home asap for us. I cannot relax and enjoy the day even in the most magical place on earth.

I have heard of several situations where leaving resorts 3 hours before flight times on Magical Express too many people were missing flights and had to pay for rescheduling to a later time....think this will alleviate that stress....
second star to the right and straight on till morning

Hi Cathie, one time the bus driver was told guests were missed at a value resort and they directed him (our bus) to pick them up. He had to turn around and go back to get the guests.
We just made the flight by about 15 minutes after the security check.

It's called Murphy's law. But we keep going back because overall we love it and just let the bad times go.
Our oldest and youngest keep telling us to go somewhere else.
Disney announced last month that Disney’s Magical Express, the free bus service that takes guests between the airport and hotel, will end January 1, 2022.
Here’s what Disney said about the change:
Vacationers have more options to choose from than ever for transportation, including ride-share services that save time and offer more flexibility to go where they want, when they want. In light of this shift, when Disney Resort hotel bookings open for stays in 2022, we will no longer offer Disney’s Magical Express service for airport transportation, starting with arrivals Jan. 1, 2022. We will continue to operate the service for new and existing reservations made at Disney Resort hotels for arrivals throughout 2021. Additionally, complimentary transportation options – such as buses, monorails and Disney Skyliner – will continue to be available within Walt Disney World Resort for Disney Resort hotel guests, including to and from all four theme parks.
