"To celebrate the 20th anniversary of ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort, we have even more exciting news to share. Today we officially opened the doors to a new multi-purpose arena at the sports complex, further expanding the 220-acre sports venue that is widely regarded as the leading facility for youth sports in America.
ESPN Wide World of Sports executives and some of our key stakeholders helped mark the occasion with a special dedication ceremony featuring a giant ribbon-cutting, plus a cheerleading routine with Minnie Mouse in her new cheerleader uniform amid a blast of streamers.
In the coming months and years, the 300,000-square-foot venue, named The Arena at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, will host a variety of sports for girls and boys, such as basketball, volleyball, gymnastics and, in particular, cheerleading and dance, starting with the prestigious UCA & UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship taking place through Sunday. In fact, the 8,000-seat arena is one of the largest in the country designed specifically for cheer and dance events, and will accommodate nearly 5,000 athletes for the College Cheer Championship this weekend.
Look for more exciting news about the sports complex this year as we continue to expand the portfolio of outdoor sports and add more high-profile events similar to the upcoming NFL Pro Bowl Week."

Recently, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex opened a brand-new 8,000 seat arena, built to host a wide variety of major indoor sports including cheerleading, basketball, volleyball, gymnastics and so much more. But for me, the most exciting part about this new arena is the FOOD!
Concessions play a huge part in modern spectator sports and if you’re anything like me, you love going to town on some yummy nachos or a good burger while you watch your favorite sports team. The Arena at ESPN Wide World of Sports houses seven concession stands and 35 carts and kiosks, all featuring brand new menus with some delicious eats. Here’s a look at just a few of the many new items you can get!

On the savory side, you’ll find classic options like soft pretzels, donut-breaded chicken nuggets and personal pizzas with sausage, vegetables or pepperoni. But that’s not all; there’s also amazing offerings like pork or chicken tacos with pico de gallo and avocado crema or loaded tater barrels topped with cheese, sour cream, bacon and chives.

For the burger fans out there, traditional hamburgers and cheeseburgers are offered, but you’ll also be pleased to find the Frita Cubana Burger with a chorizo and beef patty topped with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, ketchup, mayo, mustard and fried potato sticks. And if a sandwich is more your style, try a meatball sub or a chicken and waffle sandwich with bacon and chipotle or maple mayo and served with tasty tater barrels.
Moving on to the sweet stuff, the arena serves everything from churros to milkshakes and cheesecake push pops and even Dole Whip! That’s right, if you’ve ever had the popular pineapple Dole Whip from Magic Kingdom Park or Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, you’ll also find it in the concessions here at the arena. You’ll also find cheesecake push pops with layers of fruit, nuts and whipped cream – yum!
These delicious concessions are just a few of the many options available to guests attending events at the new arena. And in addition to concessions throughout the complex, you can also pay a visit to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Grill if you’re looking for a sit-down experience. This restaurant sits right at the entrance to the complex near HP Field House and Champion Stadium.
