Disney has officially confirmed that Walt Disney World will begin charging resort guests a fee for overnight parking. This charge will be on all resort reservations that are made after March 21st, 2018. It will be applied to the account upon checkout and show as a line item in the list of charges. Guests who have made the reservations prior to this date will not be subject to this new fee schedule. The rates will vary depending on the resort the guest is staying at.
All Value Resorts: $13 per night of stay (regular parking) All Moderate Resorts: $19 per night of stay (regular parking) All Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resorts: $24 per night of stay (regular parking) Select Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resorts: $33 per night of stay (valet parking)
Complimentary parking will remain in effect for certain scenarios, including the following: - Cast members - Guests with disabilities - Stays at the campsites at Fort Wilderness (for 1 vehicle) - Guests visiting resorts for dining reservations and other activities - Disney Vacation Club members (when staying at a DVC Deluxe Villa)
The addition of this fee schedule is a major change to how Walt Disney World has typically handled parking at resorts. This feature has previously always been free and included in the resort stay.
What do you all think of this change? Will this impact the way that you plan your Disney World vacation?
This one I have issues with.....Disney isn’t cheap. And those prices might be reasonable as far as parks go...but, resorts, too?? And I know there is upkeep to the grounds of every resort. But isn’t upkeep part of the equation of every resort fee?
"Life is a journey to be experienced, not a problem to be solved." — Pooh, Winnie the Pooh
I told on my Facebook page this new fee charged for the resorts residents in Florida. What begins in the US, will happen certainly across the Pound in the near future. As for us when we come to WDW, it's without car. So not concerned I think. I have kept nevertheless the parking number they gave me on the front desk of each resort. I don't think it's worth value any longer !!!!!
Prior to moving to Charlotte, we would fly down and take the Disney's Magical Express. Now with us being in the Charlotte area, we are only an 8-hour drive away. My wife and I think that is a very doable drive and was considering driving down more often. But with this additional fee, will will probably fly down on a non-stop flight and still use the Disney's Magical Express.
Do consider price comparison for general parking (not premier or valet): Parking at Carowinds (here in the Charlotte area): $15.00 Parking at Cedar Point (the "roller coaster capital of the world"): $15.00 Parking at Universal Orlando: $20.00 Parking at SeaWorld: $20.00 Parking at Six Flags: $20.00 Parking at WDW Parks: $22.00
So with that being said, I don't think the parking prices for the resorts are too outrageous. The more expensive the resort (Moderate over Value and Deluxe over Moderate) also means closer to the park; similar to standard parking compared to premier parking or valet in which you move closer to the park entrance.
I was told that on the annual passholder facebook page that Disney has decided not to charge for overnight parking. Is this true? If it is, that is great for everyone driving. I remember saving and counting every penny in order to bring my family to WDW each year, parking was a lot cheaper back then, but we didn't need an extra cost. I'm sure there are a lot of people still in that boat.
seems the rumor isn't true, they are still charging for overnight parking. Best wishes to everyone that drives and stays at a resort.

I have not heard they have retracted the policy, but the parking pages all appear to have been eaten by Stitch. I was able to see it still on the Guest Services page a few moments ago:
