There was a rumor a couple of months back that IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth will be ending in 2019 and a new show will be replacing it.
From WDW News Today, I read that Bob Chapek has shared an update on the new permanent show set to open at Epcot in 2020 as part of the multi-year transformation of Epcot. The new nighttime spectacular, called “A Celebration of Disney Music,” will show how Disney music inspires people around the globe, and will feature large floating set pieces, custom-built LED panels, kites with special effects, choreographed moving fountains, lights, pyrotechnics, and lasers.
In another announcement that will please long-time Epcot fans, there will be a limited-time experience, called “Epcot Forever,” which will debut in fall 2019 and will feature classic Epcot tunes.

Thank goodness this happens after my daughter gets to see it one more time!

It has been known for a little while now that “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” at Epcot will ending on September 30, 2019. So, now is the time to head to Epcot and gather around World Showcase Lagoon this summer to enjoy this breathtaking display of lasers, lights and fireworks, as Disney gets ready to launch two new nighttime spectaculars as part of the park’s unprecedented, multi-year transformation.
Disney Parks Blog announced last month that debuting October 1, 2019, “Epcot Forever” will be an all-new, limited-time spectacle of fireworks, music, lighting, lasers and choreographed, special effects kites. The show will take guests on a journey through the past, present and future of Epcot. Featuring a stirring collection of songs that paint a colorful picture of the park, this nighttime extravaganza will offer both a trip down memory lane and a look towards the future and all the magical possibilities still to come.
Disney Parks Live Entertainment is busy getting “Epcot Forever” ready for its opening day. Show Director Alan Bruun recently shared some details about the concept behind the show and the team’s collaboration with noted conductor and composer Don Harper, who is producing new arrangements of classic Epcot tunes to weave into the soundtrack of “Epcot Forever.”
“Epcot Forever” will continue into 2020, when the next epic nighttime extravaganza makes its debut.
As previously mention, "Epcot Forever" is only scheduled to be a short-term nighttime show until the new permanent show is ready. This new permanent show will be called “A Celebration of Disney Music”. It will show how Disney music inspires people around the globe, and will feature large floating set pieces, custom-built LED panels, kites with special effects, choreographed moving fountains, lights, pyrotechnics, and lasers.
Rumor has it that "Epcot Forever" will conclude in May 2020, with “A Celebration of Disney Music” debuting that same month, just in time for the summer.

Epcot is in the midst of an historic, multi-year transformation that is bringing a wide variety of exciting new attractions and experiences to the park. Among these is “Harmonious,” set to debut later this year, which will be one of the largest nighttime spectaculars ever created for a Disney Park. Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney Parks Live Entertainment teams recently passed a major milestone in the development of the show, with the delivery of several floating platforms that will provide a base for the technology used to create “Harmonious.”
“Harmonious” will bring to World Showcase Lagoon an innovative toolkit of massive floating set pieces that house a variety of show effects, including custom-built LED panels, choreographed moving fountains, colorful lights, lasers, pyrotechnics and more.
The show is a beautifully crafted nighttime dreamscape of Disney music and images, reimagined by diverse cultural musicians and artists from around the world. It’s a transformative experience, where you can discover how Disney music has the power to inspire and unite us all. You can catch an early glimpse of concepts for the show now by visiting Walt Disney Imagineering Presents the Epcot Experience, located in the Odyssey Events Pavilion.
“Epcot Forever” has been described as a “love letter” to the park. The show tells the story of Epcot, beginning with the first spark of inspiration and the opening day anthem, “We’ve Just Begun to Dream,” and continuing through chapters dedicated to the thematic pillars of innovation, exploration, imagination and celebration. It concludes with an all-new verse of the classic song, “One Little Spark,” leading into a spectacular grand finale promising “A Whole New World” of magical possibilities to come.
“Epcot Forever” is now showing nightly in World Showcase.
