I am sure you all have seen commercials about Google Home or Amazon Alexa or even the spoof commercial done by Chick-fil-a about smart speakers in your house that will tell you the time, temperature, or even adjust your lighting and play music for you. Now, imagine having that same technology in your hotel room that will be able to tell the parks hours, bus information and weather around The Walt Disney Resort in your own resort room.
I read an article that Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club resorts are testing out smart speakers in select rooms at the sister resorts. The speakers are just like the ones many use in their own smart homes, except they will have access to internal information stored in My Disney Experience, like wait times, bus arrival times, and park hours. The speakers can also play music on demand as well as answer questions about the weather. Guests can opt in or out of this test, depending on their preferences.
Disney is already making an effort to increase assistant technology in all aspects of the guest experience, like using one’s phone to unlock a resort door (via Bluetooth), location tracking via the My Disney Experience app, and even automated PhotoPass cameras.
