When we visit Animal Kingdom, it's seems more of a half day park. Are we just tackling it wrong? If it is a full day park, does anyone have suggestions for planning time in it?

As much as I go, I've only been there less than a dozen times EVER.....when you grow up near a wonderful zoo you don't seem to think it's that big of a deal at Animal Kingdom.....we took grandson once and he loved it so I keep saying this winter I'm going one time back there just he and I on our weekly excursions just to explore it more.....

Maybe that's it. I'm looking at it as more of a zoo. The grandkids love the Safari, Nemo and Festival of the Lion King. That's about it,but we go to zoos at home. Cathie, let me know your take of visiting this one and getting everything out of it, when you visit.

When Neda and I go to WDW, AK is a half-day park for us too. We usually have a FP+ to Safari, Everest and DINOSAUR. We get there as the gates open and head straight to the Safari. If we are there early enough, we might right the Safari twice (one with FP+ and one without). Then we head over to Everest and then to DINOSAUR. In the time between FP+, we will walk the trails and see the animal and even catch the train to the educational center. If it has been awhile since we last saw the Lion King show then we might catch it. After that, we feel done and ready to leave.
Prior: Offsite most every other years from 1972 - 2000
Most recent: Offsite 2001 & 2003 / ASM 2006 / Offsite 2009 / Poly 2011 / POR 2013 / CR 2014 / GF 2015 / DS Hotel 2017 / BC 2017 / POR 2018

That's a lot like us. My husband being a train buff will ride any train! But, we really spend a lot of sitting and people watching.

I start at Tusker House Bar for Chenin Blanc, then Kali River Rapids, but you're gonna get wet. Do either Expedition everest, Ticeratop Spin, or Primeval Whirl to dry or Finding Nemo (air conditioned) if its summer. Just don't do Kilimanjaro safari after Kali river rapids or you might smell a little like dirt. I usually eat at either Yak and Yeti or Rain Forest Cafe for lunch. When with the grandkids, we take the train to Rafiki's Planet watch. Until Pandora opens this is only a 1 day park.

If being an e pert bubble wand blower doesn't work out Dean, perhaps tour specialist might be appealing....

I know a lot of people feel that way, but the only time I got this park made in just half a day was in '99. There's really a lot to do here and the sites are breathtaking when you stop to look around.
I could not care less about Avatar, but really like the idea that Pandora will force the park to stay open later now...

If you are enjoying yourself and doing what you want to do at Animal Kingdom, I don't think you can do it wrong! We have never managed to experience it all in a half day, but have never really tried to be honest. We do make fast passes for Safari, Everest and Dinosaur, but enjoy meandering along the trails, searching for DiVine, experiencing Flights of Wonder, trying a new spot for lunch, going to Nemo or Festival of Lion King, or both, shopping, snacking and grabbing a drink to relax, enjoy the music and people watch. We take our time and since until recently it wasn't open late, we would either stay and eat dinner at AK or would leave near closing to catch dinner elsewhere. Looking forward to extending the day to include Pandora!

I must admit after going over a little over a month ago I have to agree I could probably spend a whole day there now....having things to do with Milo, my 4 year old grandson changes things for me.....we will go into rotation with AK now after Studios which is after Epcot which you know where we start....MK......I'm trying to hit all 4 parks one after the other and while doing repeat things he knows and likes adding a new experience or two each time so he can enlarge his Disney view of things

Sounds like a perfect Disney rotation plan to me, Cathie! Jealous you are able to visit so often! Milo sure is a lucky boy!!
