Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in China, Shanghai Disney Resort has been closed since early January. Shanghai Disney Resort announced some operations will tentatively resume on March 9th. While Shanghai Disneyland Park will remain closed, the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel, Disneytown, and Wishing Star Park will resume limited operations.
The full statement from Disney and the website is as follows –
Shanghai Disneyland remains closed as we continue to closely monitor health and safety conditions and follow the direction of government regulators. However, as the first step of a phased reopening, Shanghai Disney Resort will partially resume operations on March 9, 2020 with a limited number of shopping, dining, and recreational experiences available in Disneytown, Wishing Star Park and Shanghai Disneyland Hotel. Each of these resort locations will operate under limited capacity and reduced hours of operation. The Disney Car and Coach Park and the Disneytown Parking Lot will also reopen.
The resort will provide an extensive range of measures, designed to ensure a safe and healthy experience for all guests, Cast Members and Disneytown tenant employees, including strict and comprehensive approaches on sanitization, disinfection and cleanliness. In accordance with relevant regulations, every guest entering Shanghai Disney Resort will be required to undergo temperature screening procedures upon their arrival and will need to present their Health QR Code when entering dining venues, and are required to wear a mask during their entire visit. Guests will also be reminded to maintain respectful social distances at all times while in stores, queues and restaurants.
Please refer to the Shanghai Disney Resort official website and app for the operation hours of Disneytown and Wishing Star Park.
As they said, Shanghai Disneyland Park will remain closed until further notice. There’s still no new information regarding Hong Kong Disneyland operations, and Tokyo Disney Resort is tentatively scheduled to reopen March 15th.
Shanghai Disneyland continues to close. Shanghai Disney Resort will continue to closely monitor the progress of health and safety with relevant government departments. However, as the first step in resuming operations in stages, some of the experiences and services of Shanghai Disney Resort will be reopened from March 9, 2020-Disney Town, Xingyuan Park, and some shopping and dining at Shanghai Disneyland Stores and some leisure experiences will resume operations. During this period, passenger flow will be restricted and operating hours will be shortened. The Disney small car and coach parking lot and Disney Town parking lot will reopen simultaneously.
The Shanghai Disney Resort will take a series of measures, including comprehensive and rigorous sanitation, disinfection and cleaning to ensure the safety and health of all visitors, cast members, and employees of Disney town tenants. According to relevant regulations, every visitor entering the Shanghai Disney Resort must undergo a temperature test upon arrival and must wear a mask throughout the journey (except during meals). Visitors are also required to present the “with application code” when entering the restaurants in Disney Town. The Shanghai Disney Resort also reminds tourists to always keep a proper distance from other tourists in shops, queuing areas and restaurants to avoid close proximity to each other.
Please visit the official website and app of Shanghai Disney Resort to check the operating hours of Disney Town and Xingyuan Park.
Sure hope this has run it's course and is over. We want to return to WDW and just sit at the resort and enjoy the scenery. Something we could never do, we always wanted to be in a park or Disney Springs. Now we are ready to just sit and relax. I'm sure everyone is ready to just relax at Disney even if only staying at a resort. Much better than staying home. Staying home is better than getting sick and worst things happening to you or your family. Stay home and be safe, but dream of the day you will be back in your happy place.
Shanghai Disney Resort announced that the Shanghai Disneyland theme park will officially reopen to the public on May 11, 2020. The initial park reopening will demonstrate a deliberate approach, drawing on the experience from the successful reopening of Disneytown, Wishing Star Park and Shanghai Disneyland Hotel in early March, and implement enhanced health and safety measures.
During this initial reopening phase, the park will institute new measures and procedures, including opening with limited attendance and required advanced ticketing and reservations, accommodating social distancing in queues, restaurants, ride vehicles and other facilities throughout the park, and implementing increased frequency of sanitization and disinfection.
Ticket sales will be available via the resort’s official online channels and official travel partners’ channels beginning on May 8 at 8:00 a.m., with a limited number of tickets available each day during the initial reopening.
On May 11, the majority of Shanghai Disneyland’s attractions, rides, some shows and shopping and dining locations will resume operations, with controlled attendance. Some interactive attractions and experiences, such as children play areas, and theater shows will remain closed. Guests can check the availability of attractions and entertainment through the resort’s official website and app.
To accommodate social distancing, parades and nighttime spectaculars will also return at a later date. During the initial reopening phase, a special Disney character procession, Mickey and Friends Express, will take place several times daily, and the Enchanted Storybook Castle will come to life with light and music at dusk each day with Evening Magical Moments. Beloved Disney characters will appear in the park in a new way, as they make appearances in each of the themed lands, greeting and welcoming everyone back to Shanghai Disneyland. Close interaction and close-up photos with characters will be suspended during the initial phase of reopening.
The frequency of sanitization measures will be increased in order to augment the standards of cleanliness already in place throughout the park, and hand sanitizers will be available at attractions, restaurant and stores.
The resort looks forward to recognizing and celebrating medical professionals who helped make our reopening possible at an appropriate time in the near future.
