Welcome to the new year with the return of the Park Hopper Pass. When Walt Disney World reopening following the closure due to COVID-19, park hopping was not allowed. That has change with the beginning of 2021 but there are things you should be made aware of if you are thinking about park hopping.
Required Tickets and Park Pass:
In order to visit more than one theme park per day, you need to ensure that your ticket or Annual Pass has the Park Hopping option included. Not only will your Park Hopping entitlements be checked at the main entrance to a theme park, but it will also be checked before you use bus transportation.
Guests wishing to Park Hop must have a Disney Park Pass reservation for the first theme park they plan to visit and they must enter that theme park before visiting another. Now, Disney is not requiring that you have a Disney Park Pass reservation for the park(s) that you’ll hop to – just the first park that you’ll visit that day.
Most importantly, Park Hopper hours are 2:00 p.m. until park close, but this could change at any time. Disney has added the Park Hopping hours to their Walt Disney World calendar with the caveat that the hours could change and guests should check back before they visit the resort. It’s likely that Park Hopping will never go later than 2:00 p.m., but it is possible that it might start earlier than 2:00 p.m.
Park-to-Park Transportation:
Currently, the EPCOT monorail is not running, so therefore; your options are to either utilize your own car, the Disney Skyliner, Friendship boat service, or the Disney buses. This is the first time park-to-park bus service has been available.
Cast Members will check that you have Park Hopping entitlements on your ticket before allowing you to board the Disney buses, so make sure that you know that your ticket allows you to Park Hop before trying to board a bus.
Rise of the Resistance:
The popular Disney’s Hollywood Studios attraction has its own set of rules for park hoppers. Only guests with Disney Park Passes for Disney’s Hollywood Studios (i.e. their first park of the day) will be able to try for a boarding group at 7:00 a.m. and the newly modified 1:00 p.m. release time. Previously, boarding groups were released at 7:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., but the latter release was moved back to ensure guests wouldn’t make a mad dash to the park at the start of Park Hopper Hours.
Additional information:
You can visit multiple parks after your initial parks, so theoretically you could visit all four parks in one day, so long as the parks you’re trying to visit haven’t reached capacity. Once you leave your first park, you may not be guaranteed access back in again if it reaches capacity. However, since your pass is part of the collective capacity established by the Disney Park Pass system, you should be able to get into another park—it just may not always be the one you want.
When you are park hopping to another park, you’ll still go through temperature screening even though you would have had your temperature screened at your first park of the day.
