What is your general rule for tipping Mousekeeping and do you do it daily or the end of your trip? We leave our tip daily because of the change in staff from day to day and we leave $5.00 a day. (Normally, my rule is a dollar a person a day unless under 5 people.) With two small ones in the room, it's just a nice thing to do to cover the crazy that can happen.

This became a bit heated discussion on the last forum.....some objected to tipping on Mouse keeping at all.....but I have generally done $5 a day and if the staff has been extra helpful or I've had them do anything extra while I was there....my last day I have left more.....but you do need to leave a note every day with the tip otherwise some Mouse keepers won't take it.....

You are right, talking about tipping can cause a fire storm for some reason. It should be easy. Let's face it, their job is to clean up after us each day. And if you have children, well sometimes that just isn't pretty to clean up! Part of our countdown to the trip is making/decorating Mousekeeping money holders. They go on the table before we leave for the park it Day.

I don't tip mousekeeping. With Dvc, we only have towels and trash day on the 4th day, not daily cleanup.

We have only been in regular rooms and not familiar with how the DVC works with towels, trash or cleaning. It's a personal thing to tip or not to tip on rooms. We do b/c they are there everyday.

I know but for the sake of staying at a non Disney room I was trying to hVe input based on what I used to do before DVC or when I went without staying dvc

I understand, why tip if services aren't happening, that doesn't make sense. I'm coming at it from someone who doesn't have the extras, at least not yet. I still am in a regular room, that has Mousekeeping each day. Lol, and yes tipping and tithes can always stir up trouble! Mousekeeping is definitely optional as far as tipping. What gets me is a table of four in one of the restaurants, constantly demanding the attention of the areas shared waitstaff for their bid and call. And throw a $5-10 tip on the table for a $100-200 bill. But that's another board...

We tip a dollar a day per person. We give the tip at the end of the trip with a thank you note but also round up. If the tip came to $8.00 then I will give $10.00 or if the tip came to $16.00 then I will give $20.00. In December 2015, I ordered an in-room celebration since it was Neda's birthday and our anniversary. I gave the Mousekeeper a $20.00 tip the day they vacuumed up all the rose pedals off the floor and gave an additional $20.00 tip on top of the standard room tip the day we left for having to clean all the rose pedals off the other bed.

Personally, never been a big tipper when it comes to any maid service. I was USN and always had to keep my room with-in white glove treatment and then 30 years as a carpenter specializing in remodels, I know how easy it is to keep clean. I'm a bit OCD when it comes to that. IMHO, even at club level Rooms are barely passable for cleanliness and have called desk to have it redone. Have found hairs in sheets, food on floor, etc.... Plus they don't serve me like a waitress does or have to live off tips. They get a normal salary to make a bed, run a vacuum, wipe down some surfaces, put new towels in. 20 minutes max. With DVC, My room is cleaner, because I do it.

We usually tip at least $5.00/day, if not more. When we stayed at the GF, we always had extra towels, toiletries, etc. It was so nice to come back to our room at night to have our beds turned down, our adorable animal towels and chocolates on our pillows. We never left our room a mess when going out. I could never understand people leaving their room looking like a stye for mousekeeping to clean. Their jobs are not easy, especially when you have to clean up after someone else. We had similar experiences when we stayed at the CR and PV. We always left them notes with the tip. On our last day we would tip them $20.00. I remember one time at the GF, the mousekeeper did not want to take it, saying it was too much. With tears in her eyes, she finally accepted it.

Briarrose that was a nice story about the mousekeeper not wanting the money. I've read that it's customary to give $1.00 per quest per night. usually we leave a $5 for the 3 or 4 of us. never had a problem with mousekeeping taking the money, we leave it with their folded paper with their name on it. One night we happened to be in the room and the turn down service came to the door. Since we never left her a tip my wife decided to give her money as she left, she started to cry and hugged my wife, since then we leave a tip for her on the pillow.
So, my question to clarify things, if you tip are you DVC and still do $1/person a day, or are you not DVC? As Dean stated above, they only bring towels and clean the 4th day. Thanks!

I like that idea of leaving the tip on the pillow. I will definitely remember that for next time we go.

I'll clarify. With DVC they don't clean on the 4th day. They just take trash and replace towels. They might make your bed but not with fresh sheets. So No tip. You can have daily maid service for $30@day. Now, when I stay for cash like in December I tip $2@person @day. On the TV stand with disney stationary that says mousekeeping and thank you.
