This is a crazy world we live in these days, but it is nice to see that Disney keeps adding up to make sure we are (and feel) safe
my only question about this is: does this make the process of going into the park a lot slower?
I haven't been back since this went into effect, so I can only assume, I'm thinking it will not take anymore time, it's the people with backpacks and strollers full of bags, etc that slow it all down.

I haven't noticed much of a slow down process at all and I am there every week....frankly I think eventually Disney will have a bag check line designated for AP too just like the entrance into the parks for AP....they know the routine, are prepared and go through the lines much faster......it amazes me when I'm standing in a line with international travelers....I'm unzipping all the zippers in everything to get prepared and they just stare at me like "I'm not doing ANY of that"

My wife received breaking news about 4 days ago that they changed the MK security. They now check the guests from the busses between the bus stop and Boat launch, all resorts on the monorail have security before getting on the monorail and also the boats, that goes for the TTC before entering. No one has mentioned this (Cathy) is it true?

I read that this is true. It is to try to decrease the number of people going through security at the park itself. By checking them at the bus stop, then you don't have a large group of people going through security in front of the train station which is usually busy anyhow from people taking photos, meeting up with their groups, or just hanging out there. As for the monorails, it just means that when you get off the monorail you can go straight through the gates and into the park versus waiting in line again.

Not that way last week when I went over....the bag check and security gates were still where they were....don't think it could be practical to do over by the buses/boat launch because people still also arrive by monorail and they'd have to go way over there in order to go through

Everyone would be checked before entering the monorail, at the TTC and resorts. No need to go through security again. Also before getting on the boats. We can only hope it makes it easier. I'm sure guests on the resorts will not be happy watching the monorail leave while they are being searched.

If you arrive by monorail from the resorts, then you are security checked when you arrive on the platform to get the monorail. If you arriving from the parking lot and taking the monorail over to MK, you go through security check at the TTC (see the picture I attached in a prior post).

Mike today Milo and I experienced the totally revamped check through process.....it was supposed to be all up and running last week but when we went last Monday, it was routine as usual. TODAY it was a different story. There were new barricades up at the Transportation and Ticket Center and very quickly bags were checked and every single person went through the metal detectors.....then we took the ferry over to MK and getting off the boat, new barricades took us right through the magic band admission to the park process VERY smoothly and quickly. I could see people getting off the buses were going through the "old" process of bag search and then metal detectors but that line was quite short considering more people were coming into MK through the ferry and monorail than the buses. Hats off to Disney for a flawless procedure today.

This is always an interesting topic. I think most of us would always rather be safe then feel threatened. In a place like Walt Disney World. you expect to feel safe. But in the world we live in now, we cannot expect everyone to feel the same way. Shopping malls, Schools, Nightclubs, etc - no place is truly safe anymore. its sad, but true.
There are wackos out there and while the percentage is so small, its still important to check. I lost a brother in law and a close work colleague on 9/11 so I am a little biased.
I am totally in favor of mandatory scanning of everyone. And I feel Disney will find a way to make it work so it doesn't impact the crowds. I also feel that they have world class security and its invisible to us as guests.

The picture is from the TTC...Polynesian to your LEFT, Cinderella Castle in the distance, ferry boats ahead and to the left, monorail to Epcot ahead. The picture is taken from the monorail as it leaves the TTC heading to the Polynesian (the resort monorail).
Maybe the time from when the pic was taken to what you saw this Monday, they figured how to make things move better and therefore changed it a little.

Bryan sorry to hear of your losses, I'm sure it still seems like yesterday.
About a month ago I gave Disney some ideas to implement for security and 1 idea that I stressed that they really need to look into implementing soon.
I don't like to mention it in case a crazy is reading but will when it's done and I will tell everyone that was my idea. They wanted to speak to me over this and we had a nice talk.
When my wife read the new changes for the MK she thought it was because of me. I told her no mine was for the entire World.
