I completely agree with you. I love getting the pieces to fall into place, however; Neda wants nothing to do with planning except choosing the restaurants and FP+. I pick the parks, the days, and when we eat.
So again, I think I am more like Missy and you doc......but maybe our California associate needs help since he's more familiar with California and not WDW......to each their own....whatever makes you happy going to the happiest place on earth!

I agree. I like the planning. Plus I can get things cheaper than the Travel agents (I almost was one). Travel agents are confined to who they sell for. For instance, Off to Neverland travel is an earmarked company and will give you the best Disney Deal that Disney offers, But YOU can buy your tickets yourself thru Undercovertourist and save $50-$200. Its just whatever you're accustomed to and if you're able to handle the leg work. My average Disney trips, Now that I have AP, are about $500 per person that includes the airfare and I don't do PB&J or Hamburgers. I do at least one table service @ day. And I like my wine. (Don't think you're eating at Victoria and Alberts for that though.)

That is exactly what I have been doing for about 30 years, my children called it Dad's clipboard of fun because I used a clipboard and paper to write everything down. I had every ride we wanted to get on (no fast passes back then) what day, where we ate, etc. Of course I switched over to a computer when we finally purchased one. Printed out the itinerary and put it on the clipboard. I'm now not sure when PC's became available, it took us some time to purchase one, we had a word processor. I know one of you know the answer to computer availability.
Now with the meal plans and fast pass the fun has left the planning for me, I have to be at a certain park and cannot change our plans, I always enjoyed the ability to change plans at any time my clipboard was not written in stone.

So, After mentioning the Costs this morning, same day, I get an alert for flights for March trip with kids. Just Bought them , 7 people round trip March 19-25. $822.80 total seats and all.
Planning a Disney Vacation was so much fun in days of old, this was before they knew just by signing in who you were. In the old days it was cheaper to purchase the room if deals were offered (had to call) and buy the tickets when you arrived. Not sure if meal plans were offered back then, we couldn't afford them even if they were. We drove and brought cereal (purchased milk at the resort) peanut butter and jelly for lunch along with bread. We went the last week of August every year, it was off season, I actually don't hear that anymore. I always had a refrigerator for medicine, they offered that free, if you wanted one without medical reasons they charged you. The world has changed so much since those days.
Even if you call and use the assistance of the Cast Members, you are still using "Magic" Makers. Sometimes it is very difficult to find ALL the answers through forums and websites and then you do call WDW for help. Nothing wrong with that since not any one person knows all the answers about WDW.
A "Magic" Maker is a trained Disney vacation planner
I have been to WDW enough times and planned enough trips for friends and family that I think I am a trained Disney vacation planner without taking their classes.
When we get to do our Disneyland trip in a few years, we will use your iterarary you gave me a while back.

We love planning our days as to what and when we do things. Having a plan made things go so smoothly. I also love when everything falls into place, especially when traveling with young ones.

True, even though a site says something, it doesn't make it true...though sometimes, even the cast members can be stumped.
