If I read the instructions correctly...Dining reservations can be made 180 days in advance of your visit. And the reservation line opens at 6:00 am EST on the day you may start your reservations. If you have the My Disney Experience App, it will open up the correct fields for reserving at the appropriate times. Does this sound correct?
It should. I also think I need to correct you on the 180 + 10 day thing. I earliest you can make a dining reservation is 180 days from your arrival date. The 10-day thing doesn't mean you get you add 10 days to your 180 from you original check-in date. If you are staying as a resort guest, then you get to book your dining reservations starting at 180 day out but can then book for you entire trip up to 10 days; if that makes sense.
Example:
Let's say you are staying on grounds at WDW and your check-in date is 7/1/2017 and you length of stay is 8 days.
The earliest day you can book your first dining reservation is 1/2/2017. Also, as of 1/2/2017, you can also book your dining reservations for your entire trip. That is where the "+ 10 days" comes in. Instead of waiting for each day of your trip to book the next days dining reservation, Disney has okayed for you to book all your dining reservations for your entire trip (up to 10=day long trip) starting at the first 180-day reservation mark.
Does that make sense? It is kinda difficult to understand and sometimes difficult to explain. I can try to explain it differently if I made it more confusing.

Doc you explained that so well! You might need to be a teacher if the vet field goes dead (which it won't)......so Missy you can't book your dining 10 days earlier than 180 out......it just means on THAT day you can book your entire trip at once.

My Magic Maker takes care of all that for me. She books my ADrs and my Fastpasses
WDW must mean none of this memory maker stuff.....I've never known anyone in FL to use one and can't imagine that Disneyland is that complicated to need a memory maker to help figure out what to do.....or am I reading this memory maker thing wrong?

This is my third year going to Disney, and I haven't used one. I don't mind getting on the computer and doing it myself. I really havent had any issues, either.

I have been to WDW enough times and planned enough trips for friends and family that I think I am a trained Disney vacation planner without taking their classes.

I thought so too. At work people told me when I retire (4 years from today YAY) that i should become one. Chelle taught me so much.
I know I promote this alot, but that is because she saved us so much time and money. My dad always told me,
"When youre the grave digger, it always helps to know where the bodies are buried"
In short, you dont know what you dont know, and they are trained to know. Didnt cost me any extra to use her.
I think using someone else to plan your trip just takes the fun out of it.....but then again if you only ever use a magic maker, you haven't done any of this fun stuff so don't really know what you are missing....everyone travels differently. I love the timing of the dates to make the ADRs and then the fast passes and lastly the online check in....FUN FUN FUN

What is fun to one person may not be fun to someone else. I, like you Cathie, have fun planning the trip myself and I enjoy getting the ADRs and FP+ myself. My cousin or Neda would have more fun sitting back and letting someone else do that stuff for them. So, again just because dngnb8 doesn't do the planning himself doesn't mean he isn't having fun. It is only fun if you don't frustrated at the same time doing it.

I think it's the thrill of the hunt! I love making the pieces fit. But it doesn't mean I'm right or wrong. I just like having the control in my hands, that way if something doesn't work, I fix it. Again, I haven't booked any other way, this works for me.

I completely agree with you. I love getting the pieces to fall into place, however; Neda wants nothing to do with planning except choosing the restaurants and FP+. I pick the parks, the days, and when we eat.
