So, I have a question on "how to get from..." so I thought about opening this thread to see how we all figure out our way around Disney World
So, resort hopping: I want to eat at Whispering Canyon and then go for a tour on Port Orleans French Quartier. According to the app, there's a bus that link those 2 resorts... is that really true?
what are your resources to double check this things?

I'm not exactly sure on this....since I live local I hop in my truck and drive.....so much has changed since I "traveled" over 4 years ago I will leave this up to others who fly down and travel within the parks and resorts.....with an annual pass or DVC you can park free anywhere any time

Unfortunately, that is not true. Currently, there is no resort-to-resort bus (unless something has changed in the last month or so). However, you do have several options...
1) Take a bus from Wilderness Lodge to Disney Springs and then take a bus or water taxi from Disney Springs to Port Orleans French Quarter. The water taxi is a nice relaxing ride and drops you off that the pier at POFQ.
2) Take a water taxi (Red Flag Boat) from Wilderness Lodge to the MK and then take a bus from MK to POFQ
3) Take a bus to Epcot (as Epcot is the closest park to POFQ) and then take a bus from Epcot to POFQ
4) This is a longer way but take a water taxi (Red Flag Boat) from WL to MK, then take monorail from MK to Epcot, then take a bus from Epcot to POFQ. With this option, you would get to experience all the transportation option WDW has to offer.
5) Not using WDW transportation and taking a taxi (which would cost about $10 - 15) or Uber.
I hope this answers your question.

I'm bringing my nephews for the first time (and my sister went to WDW on 1999) and I want them to get an experience they won't forget. So, after POFQ I want them to ride the boat to Disney Springs, so they get that magical entrance with the sites all lit up!

Doc as usual your answer was well thought out and gets the points made concisely too!

When waiting for a bus that is not coming it will always seem like forever, then they pack everyone in until it is full completely. This is not our dream of a magical vacation. Now when the bus to our destination takes too long (no matter if at a park or resort) and another bus shows up that will come close, we take that one. An example is waiting for a bus to the Yacht, if the Boardwalk or Swan and Dolphin come we take that and walk. Also, we have gone to the Studios just to get out of where we are and walk or take the boat back. We do miss the boat from POFQ/RS to Disney Springs, in our day it was Dixie Landings to Downtown and was always our first days trip to save a pass from being used into the parks on arriving late morning at the resort. We plan on staying out there again one of these days, just can't find a deal for when we are able to go.

We like staying at POR because we can take the boat to Disney Springs, stay the evening at Raglan Roads listening to the music and drinking, and then take the boat ride back....LOVE IT!!!

6) Take a Minnie Van to the POFQ from Wilderness lodge and then the boat to Disney Springs. The cost is a flat $20 and offers a unique personalized transportation service. The service is a option through the Lyft app and the vans look pretty nice.

I forgot about this new option since we never had the opportunity to use it yet.

Good point Tim....at the time Daniel asked the initial question there was no Minnie van option....but excellent that you put it in here as visitors exploring our site will get the updated info too....

I have been reading a post from a person on FB that was very upset at being 2.5 hrs late (twice) for dinner reservations at a park. The family was stuck at the monorail platform and couldn’t get down to arrange other transportation. I just wanted to offer as an FYI, check with front desk on delays. If you are taking a bus, check times of arrivals and departures. Anything can hold a bus up, so if you need to get from point A to point B quickly, Uber or better yet, Minnie transportation.
Also, as a passenger of the Disney Bus system, please have your whole family ready to load and unload at the same time, and unload strollers along with folding them up before the bus is in sight. This would be another reason for the bus delays that are avoidable.
