There is always that rumor of a new park. Once I "heard" (probably on some fake news channel) that the next park would be one where all the past sunset attractions would be rebuilt. Cool idea when you think about it.
This thread is a good one, maybe one of the best for us long time Disney people. so much has changed since our first visits and if you don't think about it, it will be lost forever. I remember 20,000 leagues from my honeymoon in 1975 and we always looked for it afterwards when our children were young. The place was still there, just no ride and always was hopeful it would open once again. The skyway, it really wasn't that nice a view, you saw the roof tops and hvac units, nothing nice, sorry for the cast member who was killed when he was swept away. We swam in River Country once and have some funny memories of that visit. Discovery Island we saw that on the same trip and really liked it then Animal Kingdom opened and it was closed. Never saw the wave machine in action or more like it, realized it was a wave machine. I long for the days of not having to go through security, just get your pass stamped and in you go. Times have changed, sometimes for the better and sometimes unfortunately.
What about riding in the front of the monorail? When we stayed at the Polynesian we would wait to sit up front and ride into the MK in style. We also had several rides from the TTC to EPCOT up front, I video taped a few of them, our children were given some sort of license that said they drove the monorail. I'm not really sure of what the license was now that it has been so long and I would have no idea where to look for them. I never would have thought an accident could happen on the monorail and guest would not be able to experience the thrill again.
I was told that at one time, swimming was allowed in Seven Seas Lagoon, this we never experienced, maybe we were more interested in the pools since we swam in a lake back home.
Talking about swimming, the Polynesian had pools you could dive into, yes dive, 6 feet deep at least. Taught my children to dive at the pool which is now the volcano pool and quiet pool, now they are zero entry and very shallow. Mostly for safety precautions in today's world of letting the children run around and they will be fine.
We all know how that works out unfortunately.
How about the empty space before Aladdin's carpet ride was put in Adventure land. I'm sure someone has thought about this, I think that ride should be somewhere else, maybe next to Dumbo? Not Adventure land, is anyone with me on this??? Adventure land is small and could use some added rides, but stay with the theme, Jungle, Caribbean, Florida not the Middle East.
Last but not least, What is wrong with Snow White? She is no longer a major merchandise icon, the line to see her at EPCOT is long way before she comes out. My daughter has loved here since she was 4 and still waits to get her picture taken with her at 28. She asked me if she was making a foul of herself waiting in line with young girls and I told her, you never grow up at Disney, just enjoy yourseld.
I just discovered the Streets of America last year. (Since I had never been to that park before. After I returned home, and started watching Once Upon A Time, I heard Mr Gold's Pawn Shop Store Front was there. Went back this year and was greeted by a huge fence.....

Mike my daughter in law, who wasn't yet married to my son at the time, got to ride in the front of the monorail back on her first visit to WDW the same month they were discontinuing riding up front....by then there were. O licenses even left to hand out...but she was thrilled.
I guess I'm ok with Aladdin being where it is....when you look at the rest of the park it doesn't always stick with a theme either......like why is the TeaCups in Tocmorrowland? So it's ok Mike, relax....stand in line with Ashley to see Snow White and be happy you can go to the happiest place on earth!

No, only heard about them. I would have liked to see how the polynesian beach would look real because of wave laps. it was shut down because of erosion? i think.
Yes I do remember the wave machines......looking at it from afar it looked cool but I could see just a year later what it did to the sand beach......wonder if they removed them or just left them in the water?
