There is always that rumor of a new park. Once I "heard" (probably on some fake news channel) that the next park would be one where all the past sunset attractions would be rebuilt. Cool idea when you think about it.
I like that idea but don't see that happening.

No, only heard about them. I would have liked to see how the polynesian beach would look real because of wave laps. it was shut down because of erosion? i think.
Yes I do remember the wave machines......looking at it from afar it looked cool but I could see just a year later what it did to the sand beach......wonder if they removed them or just left them in the water?
As previously mentioned...
"You can see some of the concrete and metal on the island in the middle the Seven Seas Lagoon that is located between The Polynesian Village and what was suppose to be the Asian Resort (now the Grand Floridan)."

What about riding in the front of the monorail? When we stayed at the Polynesian we would wait to sit up front and ride into the MK in style. We also had several rides from the TTC to EPCOT up front, I video taped a few of them, our children were given some sort of license that said they drove the monorail. I'm not really sure of what the license was now that it has been so long and I would have no idea where to look for them. I never would have thought an accident could happen on the monorail and guest would not be able to experience the thrill again.
I was told that at one time, swimming was allowed in Seven Seas Lagoon, this we never experienced, maybe we were more interested in the pools since we swam in a lake back home.
Talking about swimming, the Polynesian had pools you could dive into, yes dive, 6 feet deep at least. Taught my children to dive at the pool which is now the volcano pool and quiet pool, now they are zero entry and very shallow. Mostly for safety precautions in today's world of letting the children run around and they will be fine.
We all know how that works out unfortunately.
How about the empty space before Aladdin's carpet ride was put in Adventure land. I'm sure someone has thought about this, I think that ride should be somewhere else, maybe next to Dumbo? Not Adventure land, is anyone with me on this??? Adventure land is small and could use some added rides, but stay with the theme, Jungle, Caribbean, Florida not the Middle East.
Last but not least, What is wrong with Snow White? She is no longer a major merchandise icon, the line to see her at EPCOT is long way before she comes out. My daughter has loved here since she was 4 and still waits to get her picture taken with her at 28. She asked me if she was making a foul of herself waiting in line with young girls and I told her, you never grow up at Disney, just enjoy yourseld.
I used to so love riding in the cab of the monorails and would wait in line just to get the cab. I understand why they stopped doing it but sooooooooooooooo miss it.

that is exactly how we rode the front, we waited for the next monorail. Staying at the Poly was easier to ride to the MK, it was the EPCOT ride that harder to get. We did it so many times, I even video taped it while another monorail was heading in the opposite direction. Great ride being up front,
the name sounds familiar but that is it, tell me about it.
It was located in Tomorrowland where there is now Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. It originally opened in 1972 and was sponsored by Eastern Air Lines. You sat in a two-person cart that took you places around the world and you were "flying" above them. It later became Delta's Dreamflight in the early 1990's when Delta Air Lines became the sponsor but then became Disney's Take Flight in the late 1990's when Delta pulled out. The attraction closed and then became Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin in 1998.

It was stopped for security reasons.....some stupid moron jokes about taking over the monorail after he got up front with the pilot....he felt uncomfortable and filed a complaint

Thanks for the information. the ride must have been special for you to remember it now. In 75 we were there on our honeymoon in October and did go on it. Back then the rides were labeled with letters, do you remember which letter that ride was given? Also remember Delta's ride in the 90's. And I did Buzz with my son one time.
We chickened out on Space Mountain during our honeymoon (75) which just opened and had so many warnings as you got closer, we went all the way to the top and talked it over and decided to take the exit. Back then we could have done it with no problem, it was the warnings about health issues that we had no idea if we had them or not. LOL

I thought it was because of an accident, one monorail ran into another that was stopped and the pilot died.

Am I wrong?
I am with you. The accident was September 2010 and as far as I remember, that was when they stopped allowing people to ride in the cab.
Cathie, when did this complaint that you are talking about happened??? I did some checking and couldn't find anything about it and all the reasons I found about not allowing people up front was relayed to the accident of 2010.

The original ticket book system only used letters A through E but curtain rides did NOT require a ticket and "If You Had Wings" was one of those attractions.

Okay doc I will agree with you since you seem to have so much information. I do remember my wife and I taking the horse trolley down main street to use up the booklet, must have been an "A"

I hit a wrong button and the above entered before I finished.
I just figured everything had a ticket in those days, glad you are able to correct me.

I dont either. Disney makes a decision and moves on. The only ride that I can think of that as sunset and is not back in some format is the flying saucer ride.
People just have to accept the parks will change. It was Walt's vision.

Doc Disney doesn't post employee complaints....this came from a cast member friend I know....i don't think Mike is correct, because my son got engaged at Disney after 2010 and they rode up front I believe.....let me check with them
