I used to like that ride as a kid. It was originally sponsored by Eastern Airlines and then by Delta Airlines. It was first called "If You had Wings" then "If You Could Fly" then "Delta Dreamflight" then "Disney's Take Flight" before it was finally closed in January 1998. It has all been replaced by Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin that opened in November 1998.
Awesome history Thanks!!! I do remember when it was Delta now that i think about it.

No problem. I am full of tidbit Disney knowledge

Here is something I read recently and had no idea it was planned. The buffalo and prairie dogs in living with the land were originally planned to be used in an attraction called The Western River Expedition in the MK, they instead placed the Pirates of the Caribbean there instead.
dngnb8 and I were doing a trivia on another thread and this subject (question) came up. I have attached below a copy of our discussions based on the attraction you are talking about.

In the original design, the Imagineers thought that with Florida beings so close to the Caribbean, they wouldn't be interest in having that ride.

Western River Expedition
I remember reading about this a couple of years ago.

May 18, 2017 at 5:03pm QuoteEditlikedislikePost Options Post by drwadadli on May 18, 2017 at 5:03pm I am going out on a limb here but since the theme of the attraction was dealing with West of the Mississippi, I am guessing that the animatronic animals were saved for just over 10 years and reused in Living with the Land in its prairie scene. With that being said, I am also guessing that the animatronic animals left over from Western River Expedition were the buffalo and prairie dogs.

Sorry I didn't know you already wrote about this. You were correct about everything.
It wasn't a criticism. I was just wanting to inform you of other info about this attraction without completely repeating the initial discussion. That is why it was cut-and-paste.

Guess we both took it wrong, I felt bad I forgot about the other thread, I do go through and really try to match things up.
Now after rereading my post, I see you could mistake my writing about being "correct about everything", I didn't mean it to come out that way, I meant that your information was correct about the whole post. As you know I always state how well you know so much about Disney and that was what I meant to say.

I remember that too!
second star to the right and straight on till morning
after further thought, Fronterland in the MK would have been a lot bigger reaching very close to the Jungle Cruise. When Walt was building WDW the cowboy shows were still big on TV and so was Davy Crockett. Who knows, maybe it would have been a nice ride.
Does anyone remember the boat ride in Animal Kingdom, it has been gone for some time now. Our first visit we decided to head to that first and see all the animals like hippo's, elephants, crocodiles and in fact everything. It was not only a disappointment not seeing anything, but we lost so much time. It was closed because no one was going on it from what I read.
Does anyone remember the Plaza Swan Boat ride in the MK? The boat ride started between the castle and Tomorrowland, went around the hub and Swiss Family Tree House. We rode it in '75, our next visit was around '82 (Oct.) and it wasn't running.
