Even if you aren't a DVC member can you still book the villas and cabins?
They aren't accepting bookings yet....but like all DVC owned properties, the public can book them but DVC members that own at that location can book 11 months out so booking may become an issue when it first opens up for bookings......like Bay Lake Tower when they first opened, to get a room there was impossible....but now you can call and book a room easier

Dean, we were taking about buying direct through DVC or resale. Have you ever bought resale? Who did you buy through?
First bought resale from The Timeshare Store. Takes 90 days. Only limitation was couldn't use for cruises or concierge collection. Then bought from Dvc. Counts immediately. It made all points qualify for benefits. Recently bought again from Dvc. Total 300 points, all AK June use year
Doc if you are even CONSIDERING DVC please buy first and then buy additional through resale.....I was told by one of the DVC guides (now retired) that when they run into someone who owns from resale and THEN wants to buy direct from DVC they have the option as a guide NOT to provide you with the perks.....sometimes when you buy you get the perk of getting "last years" points plus current when you buy......Let's get Deans input....what have you heard Dean?

Just that DVC points are immediately available versus resale points
Prior: Offsite most every other years from 1972 - 2000
Most recent: Offsite 2001 & 2003 / ASM 2006 / Offsite 2009 / Poly 2011 / POR 2013 / CR 2014 / GF 2015 / DS Hotel 2017 / BC 2017 / POR 2018
Well doc there are the perks involved too like getting last years points.....I'd rather wait to hear what Dean has heard cuz the guide who told me that is no longer there....she retired....so I'm not sure it's a valid honest statement to pass on......but with buying resale you won't get the DVC discounts on shopping, food and tours either......

Both times buying from Disney I got past points as a bonus.

Dean I guess what I'm asking more is if you heard anything like what my guide told me as she retired about if a new member joins DVC the guide can opt not to give them the bonus

I don't do things that way. I don't ask, I tell. If he/she wants the sale, he or she will give the bonus points.
My guide who retired told me DVC REALLY doesn't like the resale people ...... I don't think I would ever buy resale anyhow....right now what I have is all I can afford until I come into a big inheritance.....

Just noticed Today that average resales have dropped almost 4% in price. This is probably due to the recent lack of bonuses for resale. So, basically if I sold mine on resale at today's prices. I would only get my money back plus maintenance fees (Used to be a profit, not that I bought it for profit) and all those trips I took, would be free lodging.

I'm not buying any more points until I get this massive diseased tree in my backyard taken down.....the last quote I had was $10,000

For that price, I'd let it just die. Pay dvc maintenance fees and buy 50 more points.
