Just noticed Today that average resales have dropped almost 4% in price. This is probably due to the recent lack of bonuses for resale. So, basically if I sold mine on resale at today's prices. I would only get my money back plus maintenance fees (Used to be a profit, not that I bought it for profit) and all those trips I took, would be free lodging.
I'm not buying any more points until I get this massive diseased tree in my backyard taken down.....the last quote I had was $10,000
Holy cow!!! Is the tree over the house or something??? I have had multiple people come out to give us a quote for tree removal and never got that for ONE tree. I was quoted $4000 for 100 trees and stumps.
So to stay on subject.....I agree with Dean. Buy more points!

Happy Holidays to all!!!!
Saw a few things in the thread I could help with:
Resort/Deed Expiration Year- Aulani 2062, Animal Kingdom 2057, Bay Lake Tower 2060, Beach Club 2042, Boardwalk 2042, Grand Californian 2060, Grand Floridian 2064, Hilton Head 2042, Old Key West 2042 or 2057 (some contracts took the extension offer), Polynesian 2066 (my home resort), Saratoga Springs 2054, Vero Beach 2042, Wilderness Lodge 2042.
@ drwadadli Resale vs Direct - Personal choice. If you like Poly - you are in luck - but the costs keep going up!!!!! Buy direct at least to start! That ensures benefits etc. Resale is not evil but does change the landscape a bit. If you have a different favorite in addition to your island boy vibe - resale after a direct can help ensure you get that. For example - we are dying to try Beach Club, but are already out of luck for our trip this summer - no availability at the 7 month window. Luckily I LOVE Poly and we are in a nice lake view studio for 8 days in July. Now that I own direct I have a card etc and could add on at others to get that - mulling it over but not ready to do so yet. Afterall what do I think of paying $171 per point at Poly vs $97 at Beach Club
Using for a cruise - that is more a personal choice: financially it is a loss -the points do not translate as well to the cruise usage (in other words more points needed) - but they are so much easier to deal with in doing that. The best fiscal decision is to rent your points (through a broker or on a board) and pay cash for the cruise - but that involves more work so is the cash worth your time or would you rather the mouse take care of you.
Dues vary by resort from $5.60 at the Grand Floridian to $8+ at Vero beach.
Is this a record for longest first post (at least on this board?)

Happy holidays to you too. I thank you for the "story" as it helped fill in some gaps/questions that keep popping up.

I will when I get some of that money saved up....I had gotten 3 bids back then....$10,000 was the cheapest of 3
Good luck- trees can be so difficult - Learned that the hard way during Sandy!!!!!
This tree is really a big deal......trimmed a bunch of branches and it's a lot getting it into small enough pieces to fit into can that trash will pick up

New in 2015 (researched from 2011-2015). Once I purchased DVC I went into overdrive on the knowledge buildup - cause that's what I do! 4 Years deciding why I wanted/needed it - the rest of my life figuring out everything there is to know about it!

I did the Same thing in 2014. But came to conclusion in 3 months. Went to Disney. Toured DVC resorts on my own using their transportations. Bus, boat, monorail. Stayed at AK Kilimanjaro club. Met Drew Brees. Pretty cool trip. Bought 200 points resale at 78$@point. I have bought (2) 50 point contracts from Disney since. We go between 3 and 5 times a year. Now looking at moving down. I'll keep DVC for kids to stay when they come. With the studying I bought AP, Tables-in-Wonderland, Also have Landry's Select. Where do you own?
All of you on here that currently own have families and extended families. If it is just a couple with no kids, is it still a wise investment?
If you often stay at Deluxe level resorts and go to Disney at least once every 3 years, then Yes. Takes longer to justify if you finance though. I would'nt buy if your reason is for cruises and Adventure by Disney. It's best value is in Disney Resorts.
