All of you on here that currently own have families and extended families. If it is just a couple with no kids, is it still a wise investment?
If you often stay at Deluxe level resorts and go to Disney at least once every 3 years, then Yes. Takes longer to justify if you finance though. I would'nt buy if your reason is for cruises and Adventure by Disney. It's best value is in Disney Resorts.
Thank you. I do go to WDW at least once every 3 yrs but don't always stay Deluxe.

I've done the numbers. If I paid rack prices for the stays I've done the last 3 years it would be $53,900. I have just less than $36,000 invested including maintenance fees. Of course each year rack goes up. My costs only go up the maintenance fees.
I think the biggest advantage to DVC for me is taking all my kids and getting a 2 bedroom 2-1/2 bath with a complete kitchen and plenty of space to spread out.....having a washer dryer is cool when you have small kids too.....with that said, another advantage for dvc for me is now living here I can decide last minute sometimes to spend the night and grab a studio.....I can do that a lot on my points and end up spending nothing to stay

This is probably the best and most concise answer I have ever seen - wish I could like it 1000 times!!!!!!!

I am guessing that I will have to sit down and do like you did. Compare apples-to-apples. Great idea. Thanks
I'm assuming your stays onsite were all studios. how long did you stay each time? and what time of year?
Last year, we stayed at the GF for 8 nights in a regular hotel room with a lake view. In 2014, we stayed in the CR towel for 8 nights in a regular hotel room one floor up across from the monorail and had a lake/park view. In 2013, we stayed at POR in Allegator Bayou for 4 nights in a regular hotel room. In 2011, we stayed at the PV for 8 nights in a regular hotel room with a lake view in Tuvalu longhouse.

Yeah doc depending on when you go for these trips.....DVC use of points may make it great or not so great

Typically December trips are a bad use of points....March can or can not be a good use of points.....like with most time shares, different times of years the points for the exact same room and size can be more or less JUST depending on the dates....go on line and look

Why do you say December is bad? As long as it is not Christmas week or New Years it is some of the lowest point totals of the year? We love the end of November through the 2nd week of December.

Crowds in the parks are horrible and wait times are terrif....the chance of having a park closed to capacity.....points chart shows holiday season is the highest use of your points..... depending on what resort you are looking at....I try not to use my points during peak or holiday
