I remember when DVC was getting started and it was for like 50 years at that time. Then, if I remember correctly, it came down to 25 years. What is it now...20 years??

It is different for each resort. Animal Kingdom is til 2057. until they decide to up it for a small price. They did it with Old key west for 5$@point. increased it i think 15 years.

I have I have 6 weeks of timeshare and our maintenance fee is $660 per year for 1 resort (2 of the 6 weeks) and $575 per year for the second resort (4 of the 6 weeks). SO, I have also heard the DVC has much higher maintenance fees. Is that true??

My parents and I took the tour before they even finished building the units. We saw the showroom. Why did he regret buying it back then???

some yes some no. age of resort and amenities are big factors. AK is high because of animals, trainors, etc. my maintenance fee is like 2100$. I could stay in Disney for about 6 weeks in Sept or Jan
We (first my parents and I and now, my wife and I) have thought about buying into DVC for YEARS but just haven't because of the reasons I have previously mentioned. As a family, we own a total of 11 weeks a year plus 1 week every-other-year (in Hawaii). Can you rent DVC points??? My mom rents some of hers which either pays for the maintenance plus gets cash back or tax write if it doesn't rent.
